Alice Sartori

I am submitting my candidacy for COMITES 2026 with the intention of dedicating my time, energy and efforts to supporting and growing the Italian community in South Africa.

For the past three years, I have been a member of the Giovani Cape Town committee. Founded in 2022, Giovani Cape Town is a cultural society that brings together young Italians from across Cape Town, as well as those interested in Italian culture, through the organisation and promotion of cultural and social events. Run by a volunteer committee comprising students and young working professionals, the society aims to create engaging opportunities centred around Italian language, culture and community.

Throughout my time with Giovani Cape Town, I have been dedicated to promoting Italian culture and fostering connections between young Italians and non-Italians. Our activities have included charity fundraisers, social gatherings, initiatives promoting the Italian language, and the support and promotion of Italian-owned businesses.

We have also collaborated with several Italian organisations in Cape Town, including the Italian Club of Cape Town, the Italian School Dante Alighieri, and Il Centro Culturale Italo-Sudafricano.

I am committed to continuing to support and grow the Italian community in South Africa, making it inclusive, connected and accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. I hope to contribute to the promotion of all aspects of Italian culture, including language, food, arts, traditions and heritage, while encouraging greater participation, collaboration and a stronger sense of community.

I would be honoured to contribute to the work of COMITES and to the Italian community in South Africa.
